Olanta is a town in Florence County, South Carolina, United States. It has a population of approximately 550 people as of the year 2019. The town is located in the northeastern part of the county, near the intersection of US 301 and SC 341. It was incorporated in 1908. The town is named after Ola, the daughter of a railroad executive. Olanta has a small business district with a few restaurants, gas stations, and retail stores. The town is served by the Florence County School District, and students attend Olanta Elementary School, J. P. Truluck Middle School, and Hannah-Pamplico High School. The nearby Pee Dee National Wildlife Refuge provides recreational opportunities for the residents of Olanta and the surrounding areas.
